Sweet Social is a place to talk with the people who actually live near you — not advertisers, not data brokers, not bad actors looking to scam you. Here's exactly how we protect you, in plain English.
Your DMs stay between members
Only the people in a conversation can read it. Strict database access rules block everyone else — including other neighbors — from ever seeing your messages. All traffic is encrypted in transit and at rest.
We never sell your data
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with advertisers or data brokers. Period. Your address, your contacts, your messages, your posts — none of it is for sale.
No phone number required
Sign up with just an email. We never display your email or phone publicly. Your display name is whatever you choose. You can use a first name, an initial, or a handle.
One-tap reporting on everything
Every post and every DM has a Report button. Reports go to a real human review queue. Posts that get 3 separate reports are auto-hidden within seconds while we review.
Block anyone, instantly
Don't want to hear from someone? Block them. They can't message you, can't see your posts, and you won't see theirs. No notification is sent.
No tracking across the web
We don't use Facebook pixels, Google ad trackers, or behavioral advertising. The only cookies we set are the ones that keep you logged in — and you control the rest.
13+ only, with verified date of birth
We enforce a minimum age of 13 at signup to comply with COPPA, and stricter ages where local law requires it. Underage accounts are removed.
Payments handled by Stripe
We never see your card number. All Pro upgrades and post boosts run through Stripe, the same provider trusted by Apple, Amazon, and Shopify. PCI-DSS Level 1 certified.
What we will never do
- We will never call you asking for money, passwords, or verification codes. If you get a call claiming to be from Sweet Social, hang up — it's a scam. We only contact you by email from our verified domain.
- We will never ask for your password in an email, chat, or phone call. Our support team doesn't need it and can't see it.
- We will never threaten to expose your information for any reason. If anyone — including someone claiming to be us — does this to you, that is blackmail. Report it to us immediately and contact local law enforcement.
- We will never charge you a fee you didn't sign up for. Pro is $6/month, post boosts are $3. You can cancel any time in the billing portal. No hidden fees, no surprise renewals without an email reminder.
- We will never sell your account to another company without telling you first and giving you the option to delete your data.
If something goes wrong
- Someone is harassing you in DMs: Block them and tap Report on the message. Our moderation team reviews reports 24/7 and removes accounts that break the rules.
- Someone posted private info about you (doxxing): Report the post. We auto-hide posts that get 3 reports within minutes, and our team reviews 24/7. We remove doxxing content immediately.
- You think someone is in danger: Call 911 first. Then report the post or message. Sweet Social is not a substitute for emergency services.
- You suspect a scam or fake account: Report it. We use the report metadata (sender, timing, patterns) plus your forwarded text to take action — including banning the device, not just the account.
- You want to delete everything: Open Settings → Delete my account. We process deletion requests within 30 days as required by GDPR and CCPA. Your messages, posts, profile, and payment history are wiped.
How we keep the bad guys out
- Bank-grade encryption everywhere. All traffic is TLS 1.3. All data at rest is AES-256 encrypted.
- Strong password requirements + leaked-password check. We check every new password against the Have I Been Pwned database. If yours has shown up in a known breach, you'll be asked to pick a different one.
- Rate limits on posts and signups. We block spam-style account creation and rapid posting before it ever reaches your feed.
- Row-level security on the database. Even our own staff can't query another user's private data without an audit trail. Most user data is locked at the database level to the user who owns it.
- Regular security reviews. Our backend is built on infrastructure used by tens of thousands of apps, including Fortune 500s, and is monitored continuously.
You're in control
- Export your data any time. Settings → Download my data. You get a JSON file with everything we store about you.
- Delete your account. Settings → Delete my account. Confirmation required, then processed within 30 days.
- Cookie controls. Granular choices for necessary, functional, and analytics cookies. Change anytime in the footer.
- Language and visibility settings. Translate posts into 12+ languages with one tap. We never auto-translate without your action.
